This is a clever design. The table base plate on the floor has rounded indentations allowing the chair legs to slide under the table without sacrificing stability. A 36" round does not allow enough space to fit a chair under the table if the base design is a pedestal. created so two bar chairs could fit under the 36" round copper table top.
